Make Back To School Shopping Easier With Walmart’s New Online Closet Builder

2 Comments 26 July 2012

I’m sure you already know that Walmart’s slogan is “Save Money, Live Better“. But on days like these, when I get to try out new, awesome tools that they are providing their customers for free, I start to think that maybe they should consider changing their slogan to “Save Money, Live Better, Oh Yeah And We Make Your Life Easier Too“.

What? Too much?

Well, it’s true. With the release of the new tool on Walmart.com that allows you to build a ‘closet’ for Back to School shopping, Walmart has made my life infinitely easier. The tool allows you to browse the current in-store offerings, and then add items that you like to your cart.

You log in by connecting your Facebook account, so it takes all of 2 seconds. And for those of you who are queasy about connecting to Facebook because you don’t want your info shared, when you connect the app there is a question that says “Who can see posts from this app?” When you click the drop down box you can choose the option that says “Only Me”. That’s what I do so that I don’t drive my friends crazy with all of the apps that I try out, but I digress. Then you get started by setting your Back To School budget – then the app keeps track of exactly what you’ve spent. See?

After that start building your closet. There are tons of great brands, plus a lot of licensed stuff too – like Hello Kitty, Angry Birds, Disney, Hanes, Danskin, and Starter. Add items to your closet, and then hit “Make Outfits” to start pulling all of the different looks together (all while still keeping track of your budget!).

Don’t you love my awesome internet drawing abilities?

Then, have a ball building outfits. You can see how many items you have in your closet, how many possible outfits you can have, and how many outfits you have already built. It’s actually a lot of fun – and when I went into the store today to buy two of these outfits, it made it much easier on me – I knew exactly what I was looking for and exactly how much it would cost.

Pretty neat, right?

You can see my closet for yourself if you’d like – or if you want to try building your own closet for Back To School, you can do that too. Be sure and check it out!
