BCBG Max Azria Spring 2011: Runway Rundown

2 Comments 11 September 2010

Leggy ladies take heart, Max Azria is all about showing off your glamorous gams this spring. The Spring 2011 collection for BCBG Max Azria hit the tents of Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center Friday morning, and short, shorter, and shortest seemed to be the trend. The collection was a hit of dresses – with the exception of 3 pieces (two jumpsuits and a romper), dresses were the only thing Azria sent down the runway.

Some of the super short dresses were extended a bit with a gossamer fabric layered underneath – a trick that fashion photographer Anna Sabino taught me about a year ago by layering longer, sheer dresses underneath shorter dresses. The sheer fabrics weren’t reserved for under the dresses – several of the pieces featured an overlay which I felt like gave the pieces an ultra-feminine appeal.

White, grey, and black were the prevailing color trends, with pops of mustard, coral, and rose making brief appearances. Overall I thought the collection was a standout – light and airy, featuring lots of beautiful asymmetrical lines.

So what do you think of the collection? Would you wear any of the pieces?

I think it’s great–of course, I’m shaped like a apple with legs poking out, so these styles would suit me very well. Can’t do the long stuff, though. I’m too short to pull that stuff off.

  2. I LOVE the short and sheer style. It’s certainly not wearable for me everyday but for a special occasion I love feeling flirty and girly, which I think this collection totally embodies. I also love the loose-fitting layered shapes, hoping to get my hands on that coral look! xo
