Game Time! Game On!

3 Comments 30 January 2010

My daughter turns 3 on Tuesday. Oh, how it pains me to say that. When we were deciding on a date for her birthday party, we decided on Sunday January 31st. Why? Well, because February 7th, the week after her birthday, had a slight conflict. We didn’t dare place it during that weekend – just in case.

Our little football team – the boys in Black in Gold – are going to be taking on Peyton Manning and the Colts on February 7th. Maybe you’ve heard?

It took 21 years before the New Orleans Saints had a winning season. Both of my grandparents attended the very first Saints game on September 17th, 1967. My family raised me to be a longtime, die-hard Saints fan. There have been moments over the years where the relationship went more in the direction of hate than love – but as it always is with things you are loyal to – I can talk bad about my own football team, though no one else is allowed to.

This year, we made it. Finally. Who cares if we win or not, the Saints are GOING TO MIAMI.

I’m throwing a party. Duh.

WalMart came to me, as one of the Eleven Moms, with the opportunity to share about their Game Time deals – you can join me and throw an awesome Game Day party of your own. For $44 you can get:

One package of Oscar Mayer Meat Hot Dogs (8 ct.)
One package of Johnsonville

My son is rooting for the Saints. They were his first love for years before the Jaguars came on the scene and went to the Super Bowl their first season. He even won an autographed mini-helmet signed by Reggie Bush in an online contest 2-3 years ago. It sits proudly along an autographed baseball in our livingroom were everyone can see it when they walk through the door. I’ve been a Steeler fan all my life…even during the bad years. But I admit rooting this season for the Saints because they have played so well. And if they can win the upcoming game it will probably go down as the upset of the decade. Manning and his Colts are more than just good but they don’t walk on water…so anything is possible. I know the people of New Orleans must be really proud and those that are still displaced can find some small glimmer of hope in the fact that you can never count anybody out. The Saints are living proof of that.

I dare not tell DH that you’re cheering on the other team.
He wants the Colts to win.
I don’t know that much about football, and rarely watch,
but I do want to watch the Super Bowl so I can watch hubby hoot and yell and so on. He’s a riot to watch.

Since you’re celebrating her birthday tomorrow,
please tell her this lady in blog land,
Wishes her a Happy Birthday because she’s turning three,
and that I know her smile today is as pretty as it can be,
    and here’s my little plee,
that she eat a slice of birthday cake for me,
but not until she blows the candles out, one, two, three.
    Happy Birthday Precious Girl.
