Go Wild With the Dyson Animal!

Dyson DC28 AirmuscleI am by no means a domestic goddess. I’ve freely admitted that I’m far from being a neat freak, choose not to share my culinary skills with the world, and am just generally unskilled in that area. However, for some reason I seem to have an unnatural obsession with vacuum cleaners. I know, it’s strange…it’s just that for some reason I get an enormous sense of satisfaction from those lines that a good vacuum cleaner will make on carpet. Not to mention that since Little AG was born, we all tend to spend a good bit of time on the floor (check out the proof) playing, sitting, and yes, even napping. Having two dogs works against my efforts to keep the carpet in perfect condition too, so having a vacuum cleaner that really works on all of my floors and doesn’t lose suction is so important to me.

I’m already a fan of Dyson vacuums, and have sung the praises of their products on many occasions (check out this post from October when Little AG knocked over a plant in my living room! The Dyson DC16 saved my life – and my carpet – I have pictures!). This week the brand new Dyson DC28 Animal was released – with brand new Airmuscle technology that was 3 years in the making. Engineers at Dyson have created a vacuum that works on every surface in your house without sacrificing the powerful suction that they are famous for. I have owned vacuum cleaners in the past (names omitted to protect the guilty) that claimed to function on hard surfaces as well as they did on carpet – however I never found it to actually be true. It seemed to either not clean the hard floor well enough OR it was too hard to push on the carpet. I’m won’t go into all of the technology and science behind WHY it works, but trust me when I say that I tested it out myself, and it’s true. The Dyson DC28 Animal made the transition from a thick rug to a hardwood floor, and then onto ceramic tile with ease — and it even managed to suck up all of the garlic powder that Little AG had so kindly sprinkled around the kitchen for me — you know, to test out the new vacuum. What can I say…she’s mommy’s little helper!!! ;)

The new DC28 Animal makes it’s debut this week, and be warned, it comes with a hefty $599 price tag. However, if you want a vacuum that works like it’s supposed to and STAYS in working condition this is a worthwhile investment. For me, having pets and a toddler makes it a smart investment – hands down. Have you ever used Dyson products before? What do you think of them?

I have the Dyson DC 28 Animal. Like it a lot. have 2 labs and the house is now clean. Also used it by my mom who has a long haired cat. Worked wonders in her home as well. She did not think her cat had so much hair in the rugs.
I am glad i purchased it. I know it is pricey, but think of the bag savings. The health savings, the smell of your home. The brightness of the carpets etc, etc, etc.
    Great investment.

We just bought this vacuum today at Sears for just under $600.00. This is our 3rd Dyson (Dogs……what can you say…..Our Rottie nips at it, when its in use & destroyed our last one). I love Dyson vacuums & would not buy any other brand.

The thing I noticed with the Animal Airmuscle…..Is that it is harder to push on our thick carpet, than the regular Animal one. However, that is the only draw back I can see. There are more functions on this one…..it allows for different settings, depending on the thickness of your carpet & you can vacuum non-carpet floors (but that’s with any Dyson).

These really are the best vacuums around! We have 2 kids, a Rottie, & a German Shepherd…..If you have tough cleaning & can spend the extra cash……It is truly worth it.

So my wife and I just got married 4 weeks ago. In the marriage I inherited a Shark Infinity Vac. I LOVED the vacuum power of the Shark but it seemed like every time I used it I was disassembling it and cleaning out something that clogged it. (more our fault than the vacuums) I also found out that parts aren’t available for it anymore so repairing a few of the broken parts wasn’t going to happen anymore. Sooooo on with the story… We had about 300 bucks worth of returned gift money (from the wedding) at Bed Bath & Beyond. Since we didn’t get all the china it made no sense to keep the few pieces we did. So anyway… We went there thinking we’d look and see what they had for vacuums. We looked at the Dyson Ball vacs but what I saw was a beater head that looked to just sit on top of the carpet and had no real down pressure on it so it was nixed. We then moved on to the Air Muscle Animal and liked what we saw. So after talking with customer service about our return we were surprised to find that we CAN use the 20% off anything in the store coupon on the Dyson even though it said on the coupon we couldn’t. So we went home and grabbed the coupon and bought the vacuum. I walked out the door with a 600 dollar vacuum for 116.00 dollars out of pocket. Uhm… Yeah… Really can’t beat that!
So I went to testing it. Now keep in mind I vacuumed the day before with the Shark which has equally good suction but not the Air Muscle technology and I have two shedding dogs. One is a Golden Retriever who I swear takes joy in shedding… lol So I went to work on the upstairs… I FILLED the canister one time on the carpet I have just vacuumed the day before. I was AMAZED! I must say this vacuum worked WAY better than I imagined it would. The beater stays right on the carpet and the carpet literally looks like someone raked it when you’re done vacuuming. So my recommendation to you is to BUY THIS VAC! Yes it’s STUPID expensive but it works like a charm. Some have said that Dyson’s don’t have great suction but they must be talking about the old ones because this thing is stupid good!

    Cheers all,

I would so love to try this vacuum as I have heard great things, but it seems so darn bulky I don’t think it will fit under or around any of my furniture. I have also had awful experience with uprights on hardwood floors . I wish this came in a canister version as I would buy it in a heartbeat!

I love my Dyson, and have to use it tomorrow to clean. Hubby got tomorrow off from work and will take the dogs to the park, so I can give our house a good going over. Sometimes it’s hard with the dogs running around your feet.

  6. Jaff says:

Our Dyson Animal died last week and we went shopping around for a replacement. There is absolutely nothing else out there to touch the Dyson brand. $ for $ it’s the best vac in the marketplace. We decided on a canister type in the end, a DC23 – it’s excellent

  7. CC says:

We love our Dyson animal, but what we’d really love is their smaller model (for our small home)!!

  8. Clarissa says:

I am getting one of these–so excited! :) I have a 2500 sq. ft. home with a mixture of carpet and wood flooring, 2 kids and a puppy–all a perfect mixture for this ANIMAL to tackle! :)

  11. Jennifer G. says:

In the past I could never imagine paying more than $200 for a vacuum cleaner as I thought it was absurd. Then my son came down with allergies and I started researching vacuum cleaners. That’s when I first heard of Dyson and realized that although it was expensive, it was probably the best to keep my home as free of allergens as possible.
I did the unthinkable and bought a $500 vacuum cleaner nearly giving my hubby a heartattack. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever love a vacuum, ever! But I loooove my Dyson, love, love, love. And I must say it is worth every single penny.
It cleans like nothing else in this world. My advice to everyone who doesn’t own one is if you can afford it, get it! You won’t regret it.

  13. Danielle says:

We have had a Dyson for two and a half year now and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We don’t have the animal one because we don’t have animals but I have no doubt it works!

  14. Tricia says:

mY CARPETS ARE SCREAMING FOR THE DYSON…i SO NEED ONE.

  15. 1955nurse says:

I have wanted a ‘Dyson’ since they 1st came out! I have a Siberian Husky in the house and no matter how much I love her I can’t believe how much she sheds-or that she has any fur left ON her!

  16. Jennifer Hamitlon says:

I don’t own a Dyson, but sooo want one!!

  17. Lori says:

I love our Animal! The new one could only be better but we haven’t had any problems with ours!

  18. crystal says:

We have the Dyson Animal and it works wonders!!!
..Used it so much …we need a new belt. I am thinking Walmart probably?!?

  19. Sky says:

I have used a Dyson before, but don’t own one. We just have measley little vaccuum because we have wood flooring throughout the upstairs and very little just 2 bedrooms downstairs have carpet, the rest is slate or wood. If it lives up to the every surface feature…I’ll put it on my Christmas list! :)

I have heard so much positive about Dyson!

  20. Debbie says:

My sister has the Dyson Animal (and 4 cats) and absolutely LOVES it. Of course, then my sister-in-law (2 cats, 2 little ones) received one for Mother’s Day and she loves it. I had to explain to my brother-in-law that this was the one time when an appliance for Mother’s Day would be well received. With 2 cats, a dog, three teenagers, and daycare for my 4 nieces, I’d almost give a limb for one, but then how would I play with it?

  21. Jenn Hall says:

My mom has a dyson and I just drool everytime I use it :)

  22. Ashley says:

I own the Dyson Animal, older version, and love it. With two dogs and a cat I really needed something that could suck up all that fur and we have mostly hardwood floors. I am sure the new Animal is even better!

  23. Naomi says:

I have a DC07 animal and would loooove to try the new model out. We have uneven slate tiles in our bathroom and they are impossible to clean…
